As air exits a compressor it is warm, dirty, and often wet, which can harm and shorten the life of downstream equipment, such as valves. So, before air can be used, it needs to be cleaned and controlled with a filter regulator. A regulator is used to control the speed and precision of the flow of liquids and air, whereas the filter cleans the air that travels from the compressor.
It helps to reduce the sound of the exhausting air from the pump. The muffler can also be removed so the exhaust can be ported away from the pump, enabling the pump to be submerged, or to simply exhaust the air to a safe location or outside to further reduce noise in the work environment.
One of the major difficulties with AODD pump comes when pumping hazardous, toxic, flammable or reactive fluids. It’s the diaphragm. These diaphragms mostly made of rubber (natural or synthetic) have a life that varies in the range of several million cycles. While the pump is operating with these hazardous fluids, there will be a point after a certain period the diaphragm will fail naturally completing its cycle. Due to its working principle the pump will stall but the fluid may be thrown out of the pump muffler and may be spilled on a person or any important instrument there leading to failure. Even if the pump will stop working these may lead to serious disaster.
To overcome such problem, Sensors are installed at the pump manifold works on the principle of conductance or dielectric constant where leaked fluid comes in contact with sensor leads to generation of small current which in turn can be coupled with potential free contact like: relay to control the on/off of the pump & it can be coupled with customer’s DCS/SKADA/PLC etc.
